How to prepare your flowers
If you or a loved one is thinking of sending their fresh flowers to be preserved, the best way to preserve your flowers are as follows:
1. Keep them in fresh water (changed daily) right up until you send them. Particularly the night before, give the stems a cut at a 45 degree angle, pop your flowers in a cool, dark place to replenish overnight.
2. Put the flowers in a suitable box and pad them lightly with tissue paper, not so much that they are squashed but equally so that they cannot freely move around when moving the box (you can cut the stems but leave 2 inches at least on each flower).
3. When putting the flowers in the box, please wrap each flower at the very end of the stems with just 1 piece of kitchen towel (could even use half of a sheet for the smaller stems), that has been dampened with water. You can choose to secure this with a rubber band if you wish.
4. When wrapping the stem ends and placing the flowers in the box, please try to make sure no flower heads are touching damp tissue, this damages the flowers and can impact the quality of them when dried.
If you have pre-planned to preserve your flowers, please have the box sorted before the event, so you can send them ASAP. As long as they are sent in the first 48 hours after the event, they will look fresh. Try and keep them in water after the event, but please do not stress about this!
